Providence's Drama 2 LIGHTS, CAMERA, CHEESECAKE presents: "The Tolstoy Story"
Inspired by Tolstoy's tellings of Russian folktales a century ago, this award-winning story theatre play is a celebration of the glory of story with a fresh blend of vaudeville, commedia, realism, farce and poetry. The play, composed of stories, clearly illustrates the essence of story itself as a human survival tool and art. Its theme is that each person's real life is in itself a complex story, made of overlapping, interwoven stories.

Intermediate Drama (selection of Drama 2 performers) performs "This is a Test"
As the ticking clock reminds you, you have only 60 minutes to complete this oh-so-important predictor of your future. But you didn't get the review sheets, the teacher doesn't seem to like you, and your classmates are blatantly cheating. Time is passing and the voices in your head keep reminding you that though you may be having trouble with the test, your personal life is far, far worse. Then you reach the essay question. The good news is that it's an opinion essay. The bad news is that it's in Chinese. And things aren't going to get better.

Advanced Drama (a selection of Drama 2 performers) performs:
"The Music Lesson"
Weaving together the music of Bach, with memories of the Bosnian War and the universal conflicts between teacher and student. The Music Lesson tells the story of Irena and her husband Ivan, two musicians who escaped the war in Sarajevo to start a new life in America. Ivan brings home two new students: 10-year-old Eddie, a talented violin student, and the unwilling Kat, his 14-year-old sister. Shifting elegantly from past to present and resonating with powerful music, this is the tale of two countries, two families, two generations and the ways they learn from each other.
